Learning objectives
The Master program in Cellular and molecular biotechnology allows the students to:
1) have a thorough knowledge of the biochemical and genetic aspects of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, and cell culture techniques, even on a large scale;
2) possess a knowledge of the structure, functions and analysis of biological macromolecules and cellular processes in which they are involved;
3) know and use molecular and cellular methodologies for the design and manufacture of biopharmaceuticals, diagnostics, vaccines;
4) use molecular and cellular methodologies for the identification of molecular targets;
5) have mastered the bio-IT methods for the organization, construction and access to databases, in particular of genomics and proteomics, and the acquisition and sharing of scientific and technological knowledge;
6) possess expertise in the analysis of chemical, biological, biophysical and toxicological properties of biopharmaceuticals, diagnostics and vaccines in the human field;
7) know the fundamental aspects of the industrial design of biotechnological products (including gene therapy and cell therapy), and the formulation of biopharmaceuticals;
8) know and be able to use specific techniques and technologies in molecular modeling and design of innovative drugs;
9) know the the molecular and cellular pathogenic mechanisms underlying human pathological processes;
10) know biotechnological approaches to be used in the therapy of congenital or acquired disorders;
11) be able to use, in written and oral form, the English language with reference to disciplinary lexicons;
12) be able to organize developmental activities in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
