Learning objectives:

The specific educational objectives of the Degree Course in Human Movement and Sports Sciences are dictated by the need for acquisition by the student of knowledge and cultural and operational expertise for conducting physical activities in all fields of sports activities (individual, educational, recreational, in leisure groups, etc.). Knowledge and skills are finalized to promotion and maintenance of the individual physical and mental wellbeing, as defined in the general principles of the World Health Organization. Primary learning objectives of the degree course are:

Knowledge of the human body biological and structural features in relation to age and gender, and related to technical exercise; Understanding of the biochemical and physiological bases of the human body functioning and the functional changes induced by physical activity, related to environmental conditions; Knowledge of the main health-disease factors and sanitization interventions to protect individual and collective health; Motor training knowledge for injury prevention and motor skills re-education; Learning of exercises specific for different life stages and handicap situations; Knowledge of the measurement and evaluation methods for anthropological, physiological and functional parameters in competitive sports activities, fitness, prevention and re-educational physical activity; Knowledge of physics and biomechanics in human movement related to age and individual health conditions; Acquisitions of the cultural and methodological tools to make physical activities and sports planning for individuals and groups; Learning of an European language other than Italian, with the purpose of enabling international communication;

Fundamentals of psychology and sociology for interaction with people of all ages, gender, and social status; Acquire the appropriate pedagogical, psychological and educational bases to transmit ethical values to promote active lifestyle and healthy practice of sports without the use of harmful substances; Adequate use of the most common computing and electronic tools.

The course has a unique curriculum and is divided into two semesters with a total of 180 credits: 25 CFU for the internal placement, 3 credits for the final examination and 12 credits for the courses chosen by the student. The didactic activities start with theoretical lessons followed by practical training in the third year. During the first year, the students are introduced to such topics as biology, biochemistry and human anatomy that will be the cultural basis to the second-year disciplines: motor control and human physiology, preparatory to the study of physiology exercise, functional training and wellness and promotion of health. The third year includes the study of psycho-sociological disciplines, trauma-rehabilitation related to motor activity and sports, motor techniques specific for the different ages and disabilities, theory and methodology of training and physical activities for prevention, compensatory and re-education.
